Responsibilities:

The Office of Chief Counsel is the legal adviser and attorney to the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. Chief Counsel has approximately 2500 employees in 50 offices nationwide. Of the 2500 employees, approximately 1600 are attorneys. The Counsel Information Systems Office (CISO) provides a full range of IT services to Chief Counsel, and has responsibility for all applications and services that are national in scope. The Chief Counsel Intranet serves as a document and information repository for Counsel Staff and their IRS clients. The web site has not been significantly changed since 2000 in its look and feel, but the content has expanded considerably over the intervening years. Chief Counsel is currently migrating the Intranet to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007.

We are looking for a Web Developer with extensive Intranet development, test, and production experience. The candidate will be responsible for implementing and improving the ongoing development of the Organization’s websites based on ASP and ASP.NET. The candidate will assist in enhancing existing web pages and applications, assist with troubleshooting issues, and migration of content from legacy ASP/ASP.NET applications to SharePoint 2007 and in the future SharePoint 2010.

Principle Job Duties:
* Assist in the development, delivery and maintenance of enterprise-wide intranet based applications using HTML, CSS, ASP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, jQuery, C#, JSON and XML.
* Develop intranet solutions in concurrence with the general organizational guidelines.
* Convert ASP applications to ASP.NET and integrate those web applications with SharePoint 2007/2010 using web parts, features, or IFrames within SharePoint.
* Develop code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software based on customer requirements.
* Convert MS Access databases to SQL databases or integrate with SharePoint lists.
* Enhance legacy ASP web applications as needed.
* Maintain ASP and APS.NET based video streaming player and video media published to the intranet.
* Perform maintenance on existing web applications and contribute to knowledge of those applications.
* Work with the technical staff to resolve issues.
* Assist in resolving customer requests with the web applications and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
* Assist Webmaster with day-to-day updates when necessary.
Qualifications:

Candidate Requirements:
* 4+ years of experience with HTML at the tag level, as well as using WYSIWYG tools like SharePoint 2007/2010, Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010, and SharePoint Designer 2007/2010.
* 4+ years of JavaScript programming experience, jQuery experience a plus.
* 4+ years of Microsoft server-side VBScript, ASP, and ASP.NET development using Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010 and C#.
* 4+ years of experience in database design using MS Access, SQL, query design and optimization.
* General experience in Windows 2003 Server and IIS 6/7 configuration.
* Demonstrated success completing projects independently and in a team environment.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Familiarity with the Software Development Life-cycle (SDLC) and code documentation.
Additional Desired Skill Sets:
* Experience with SharePoint Server 2007/2010 at any level is highly desired.
* Background in setup and configuration of databases for interfacing with web applications using MS SQL and/or Oracle highly desired.
* Experience in developing web parts, features, and code behind for SharePoint 2007/2010 a plus.
* Experience with Lexis-Nexis, MS Office, MS Office Tools, MS SharePoint Designer, and MS Publisher are greatly desired.
* Experience with interfacing with Documentum through the web.
