Native Preference Applies Pursuant PL93-638 SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible assisting Recreation Supervisor in the management of the Recreation Department in his/her absence. Also responsible for carrying out general student recreation activities including competitive and non-competitive sports, arts and crafts, cultural and community activities, games and other activities, in compliance with government and management directives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS: Assist the recreation supervisor in planning and implementing a comprehensive and diversified program of recreation activities. Assist the supervisor in developing weekly, monthly and annual calendar of recreation events. Assist the supervisor in soliciting student input for activities. Recruit and motivate students to participate in activities. Organize and supervise student participation in a variety of recreation/avocation activities on and off center. Conduct recreation classes, workshops, teams, etc. Supervise and transport students on center recreation functions. Coordinate the new student recreation orientation program. Supervise all recreation facilities to ensure a positive and safe atmosphere. Implement centers arts and crafts programs/activities as needed. Promote and participate in cultural activities. Clean, sanitize, and organize recreation facility and equipment. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices. Cultivate and maintain a climate on center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn Job Requirements : KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must have a proven ability to work as a member of a team of individuals working toward a common goal. Must be an effective supervisor of students. Must have proven ability to participate and coach recreational activities. Must have proven ability to work as a member of a team of individuals working toward a common goal MANDATORY: Associates Degree (or higher) or at least one (1) year related experience working with youth, or two (2) year technical school in physical fitness, recreation, or related field. Valid state drivers license with acceptable driving record. PREFERRED: Bachelors (or higher) with previous experience within a recreation program in a school or city/parks system. Commercial drivers license with acceptable driving record.
