General Summary:Greets, welcomes and assist patients and visitors entering the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Management and assists patients and visitors entering the facility. Respond to telephone inquiries, providing information or referring caller to correct resource. Maintain patient schedules and prepares daily charts for departmental use. Provide support to the nursing staff with patient transport and stretcher making when necessary. Responsible for training of PRN clerical staff, and supervision of volunteers. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital. Minimum Requirements: Knowledge of basic clerical & coordination procedures through one of the following: Certificate of completion of medical secretary training in a vocational or hospital-based program Current enrollment in an accredited nursing or allied health program, with successful completion of at least one semester of clinical practicum. Previous experience as a unit secretary, administrative partner, or Health Unit Coordinator Acceptance in and successful completion of a Holy Cross Hospital training h School Diploma or equivalent. Interpersonal and problem solving skills necessary to interact with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers, ability to communicate on a professional cessful completion of Unit Secretary Medical Terminology Evaluation (passing grade of 80% is preferred but will not be used as sole criteria for screening). 1 year experience in a physicians office or hospital environment. Word processing and basic typing skills. Demonstrated interpersonal/organizational skills as evidenced by personal and/or professional recommendations. Experienced bilingual candidates, who, in addition to English, are fluent in speaking, writing and interpreting Spanish, French, Portuguese or Mandarin Chinese are strongly encouraged to apply.
