Key Role: Serve as the network consolidation, virtualization, and optimization SME, performing IT strategy work and collaborating with various senior-level DoD clients to provide high-level technical guidance. Support the Architecture and Infrastructure Directorate within the Information Management, Integration, and Technology Deputate of the DoD Chief Information Officer. Interact with clients in DoD CIO, DISA, Joint Staff, MILDEPS, and COCOMS in a full range of activities to develop network evolution strategies, policies, architecture, and other guidance. Conduct industry outreach, bring stakeholder communities together, develop high-level implementation plans, address governance needs, and support intra-departmental collaboration. Advise the client on network consolidation, virtualization, optimization, and evolution, form key partnerships with clients and industry partners to develop solutions to complex problems, and communicate these to the stakeholder community. Work extensively with extended team and stakeholders to write, review, and produce core documents as required for the A&I Directorate. Support meetings, brief plans and strategies related to IT Infrastructure, evaluate current efforts, and identify opportunities. Basic Qualifications: -5 years of experience with DoD networks, including component, mission, or coalition and consolidation and virtualization -2 years of experience with performing front end analytical work to consolidate or virtualize networks required -Experience with concepts to convey technical and architectural requirements -Knowledge of networks and can convey it to stakeholders -Knowledge of MPLS and how it supports cloud computing -Knowledge of IPv6 and Unified Communications (DoD UC) -Knowledge of commercial networking best practices and how they can be applied to the DoD -Secret clearance -BA or BS degree
Additional Qualifications: -Experience with four or more of the following: Defense Information Systems Network (DISA DISN), MILDEP networks, Future Mission Network, Asia-Pacific Area Network (APAN), Joint Enterprise Network (JEN), or a technical understanding of network infrastructure -Experience with developing formal DoD policy and guidance -Knowledge of current DoD/GIG efforts around Network Optimization -Ability to lead the technical development of a Network Optimization Reference Architecture -Ability to interface directly with GS-15 lead, IT Strategy staff and all levels of civilians, DoD executives, and military personnel -Ability to attend meetings and work at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA
