The successful candidate will apply expertise in data acquisition and/or data development in support of Support for Strategic Analysis scenarios as a Mid -level non-U.S. Ground Forces Analyst for the Joint Data Support (JDS) organization. JDS is a part of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Analysis and Program Evaluation (CAPE) and its mission is to identify, collect, develop, manage, and disseminate current-year and future-year data supporting collaborative study teams led by OSD CAPE and the Joint Staff. The candidate will be involved in all aspects of the analytical process, and will obtain/develop/interpret non-U.S. ground forces' order-of-battle and equipment data; and help prepare datasets to run in theater/campaign-level combat simulations. S/he must be able to research a wide variety of possible data sources to provide modeling and simulation (M&S) customers with data and/or datasets about non-U.S. ground forces and capabilities.
The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, be a team player, and demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills. Individual must work with other government and contractor analysts, and possess strong analytic and technical skills.
The work location is at the Mark Center, Alexandria, VA. On-site parking is not guaranteed. Position will require travel to the Pentagon and other offices in the National Capital Region.
Competitive candidates will have strong credentials in the following areas:
1. Thorough understanding of non-U.S. Ground Forces (force structure; units and unit hierarchy; equipment; doctrine; strategy; and tactics) and the U.S. intelligence community structure. Familiarity with non-U.S. ground force data sources. Intelligence experience as a military member, Government civilian, or contractor is a plus.
2. Experience in the areas of theater/campaign-level analysis, or ground forces' combat modeling & simulation, operations research or equivalent experience.
3. Experience with operations planning at the combatant command level (or service component) and/or equivalent experience on the Joint Staff, OSD staff, or at a senior service school or a war college is a plus.
4. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of software is required; experience with database software is a plus.
5. Experience handling classified materials.
6. Security Clearance Required: DoD Top Secret. TS-SCI eligibility a plus.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in International Affairs, Political Science, History or Operations Research, or related Social Science Area desired.
